How does the self-watering system work, and how do I know when to refill it?

Our self-watering system is powered by capillary action, keeping your plant perfectly hydrated—never overwatered, never parched. Just make sure the reservoir has water, and nature (with a little help from us) does the rest!

How much water should I add, and how often?

Simply fill the reservoir to the “Max Fill” line once a month. That’s it—just once a month to keep your plant happy and hydrated.

Can I still water my plant from the top if I prefer?

While our system is designed to eliminate the need for top watering, occasional top-ups are okay! Just ensure you lightly moisten only the top few centimeters. Have questions? Reach us anytime at support@urban-roots.co.

How do I check if the soil is moist enough?

It’s normal for the top layer to appear dry. To check deeper moisture, simply insert a wooden stick (like a chopstick) into the soil and see if it comes out damp.

Can I use fertiliser in the water reservoir?

Yes, you can use liquid fertilizers in the reservoir. We’ll also be launching our own Urban Roots Fertilizer soon—stay tuned!

What’s the best location in my home to place Urban Roots plants?

Every plant comes with a care card to guide you! Light and placement depend on the species, so follow the guide to find the perfect spot.

Are the pots suitable for both indoor and outdoor use?

Urban Roots is designed for indoor living—think cozy corners, work desks, and sunny windowsills.

How do I clean or maintain the pots?

Just remove the liner and rinse the pot with clean water. It’s that simple.

How will I know when it’s time to repot my plant?

Our pots are designed to last at least 18 months. If your plant starts outgrowing its space, it may be time to repot—don’t worry, we’ll help you spot the signs.

What should I do if my plant stops thriving?

Are the pots safe for edible plants like herbs and vegetables?

While many of our plants are non-toxic, our system isn’t intended for edible use. We recommend ornamental plants only.
