Satin Pothos Plant Care

Satin Pothos

This velvety trailing plant is native to the jungles of Southeast Asia and admired for its oversized, silver-splashed leaves. The ‘Exotica’ variety brings an extra lushness to any shelf or hanging basket — and it’s incredibly easygoing. If you’re looking for something that grows with grace (and minimal fuss), this is the one.

Your plant is already potted and self-watering — no repotting or soil changes needed.

Light

Loves bright, indirect light to keep its signature silvery variegation vibrant. Tolerates medium light but may grow slower and lose contrast. Avoid direct sun — it can burn the leaves.

Watering

Your pot is self-watering — simply check the water reservoir once a month and refill if empty. No top watering needed.

Temperature

Prefers indoor temps between 18–26°C. Keep away from drafts or overly dry air.

Humidity

Enjoys moderate to high humidity, but adapts well to typical indoor levels. Leaves may curl slightly if the air is too dry — mist occasionally if needed.

Growth

This trailing plant grows vines that can drape beautifully or be trained to climb. Perfect for shelves, hanging baskets, or moss poles.

Pruning Tip

Snip vines to control length and encourage bushier growth. Cut just above a node — new shoots will emerge from there.

Pet Safety

Mildly toxic if ingested. Best kept away from curious pets and children.

Fun Fact

Though called “Pothos,” it’s actually a Scindapsus — a close cousin!
Its shimmering leaf spots look almost hand-painted, earning it the nickname “Silver Pothos.”
